Tamiami Park Aquatic Center, Miami, FL

Project: GeoThermal Pool Heating and Cooling

Miami-Dade County Parks and Recreation Department replaced two 1,000,000 BTU per hour input Teledyne-Laars natural gas heaters at the Tamiami Park facility with six model PHH-165-RV reverse-cycle Symbiont™ GeoThermal heating and cooling units.

The Symbiont™ system, which extracts free heat from a 100′ deep aquifer well in the winter and rejects heat to the well in the summer, is designed to maintain the 50-meter competition pool at a steady 82-84°F year-round.

Symbiont Service Corp’s engineering department projected operation savings of approximately $20,000.00 annually compared to the old natural gas heaters. In addition, the Symbiont system has a serviceable life expectancy of 20-plus years, with no significant affect on the environment.

  • Pool Size: 477,460 Gallons
  • Pool Temperature: 84°F Jan Pool Temperature
  • Blanket: Blanket at Night
  • Cooling: with Summer Cooling Accessory
