How Smart Tech Can Save Money On Heating
Our homes continue to get smarter and smarter! From refrigerators that let you know when you need eggs to stovetops equipped with tablets so you can pull up recipes to lights that turn on when you enter a room and off when you leave, new technologies are making many aspects of our lives easier. Have you ever wondered how smart tech can save money on heating? In a couple of words: Programmable thermostats.
We’ve rounded up some of the best smart home trends (which are bound to change by time we’re done writing this article!) that you may want to consider for your home.
How Smart Tech Can Save Money On Heating
Let’s explore some smart technology and home trends you explore.
- High tech kitchens. We’d mentioned stovetops with tablets, refrigerators with cameras so you can see who is at the door, and that can tell you when you need eggs. There are also smart devices that elevate any number of kitchen appliances to a whole-house-hub of technology. There is even a range hood that features a 27-inch smart touch screen!
- Cameras and doorbell monitoring systems help assure that even when you’re not physically at home you can act as though you are. If your doorbell is rung while you’re away, you can see who is at the door and you can also talk with them.
- Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Today’s detectors have apps for your phone so you can rest assured if anything happens in your home, you will have an immediate notification. These detectors also test themselves on a regular basis and send you a notification.
- Smart lighting means you will never have to worry about walking into a darkened house or room again. Whether the lighting is motion-activated or voice-activated you can ensure lights will turn on, and off, when you need them.
- Indoor air quality monitoring. Install an air purification system that continually monitors your home for air contaminants then runs the purifier to clear the air.
- Programmable thermostats. Whether you heat or cool with geothermal technologies, you can have a programmable thermostat installed that will turn the air/heat on and off at specific times. You can program it to turn to a lower temperature when you’re sleeping and program the thermostat to turn on and warm or cool the house before you get up. With a programmable thermostat you don’t have to worry about turning the heater or air conditioner on then forgetting to turn it off when you leave.
