How To Have A Pet-Friendly Home
You may be wondering, what does how to have a pet-friendly home have to do with geothermal energy or air conditioning… it matters because our pets are part of our family. When we share our lives with our pets, we may need to make accommodations for them in their living space and in our HVAC unit and the way in which we filter our home’s air.
The geothermal professionals from Symbiont Service in Englewood, Florida know that understanding their customers and the way in which they live (and work) is important to helping assure they are breathing in the cleanest, purest air possible. Heating and cooling the home also relies on clean air filters and furnace filters and those who share their lives with pets have to contend with pet dander and hair and that may mean more frequent geothermal and HVAC unit maintenance and service visits.
How To Have A Pet-Friendly Home
If you share your lives with pets (and since it is a booming $6 billion industry… we know many of our customers do) here are ways to make your home more pet-friendly:
- Change the flooring. If you have pets and you have carpet you will have mud and wet floors. Homeowners with pets find it’s easier to have wood or laminate flooring. It makes a muddy footprint and food spill clean up easier. It’s also easier to sweep up pet dander and hair from a non-carpeted floor.
- Find a place where your pets can sleep and play. Some pet owners have space they dedicate to their dog and cat’s food and bed. There are spaces out-of-doors that the dogs’ access. You may also have a dog toy box or two so you’re not stepping on squeaky toys in the middle of the night. Cat owners know that cats like having high, warm spaces to relax in. Cat trees and the top of a refrigerator or bookcase are ideal hiding spots for cats.
- If you have cats and you have litter boxes, find a place for them that they are easy for the cats to access, but are out of sight and smelling distance.
- Have a space in which you can clean off a muddy dog (a low sink or a walk-in shower in a mudroom. Pet owners who live in hurricane-prone Florida may find a separate mudroom where they can dry their wet dogs off an ideal use of a small space in the house.
- Ask us whether there are different furnace or air conditioner filters you, as a pet owner, should be using to keep the air you breathe cleaner.
