Call For A Geothermal Site Evaluation
While there are more factors that are involved in the installation fo a geothermal heating and cooling system, we have put together this quick list of items our geothermal experts will check during a site visit.
Available space. How much space do you have available for the installation of the underground unit as well as the pipes required to transfer the heated and cooled water into your home? We will look at:
- The size of your lot
- The landscaping/trees/swimming pool, etc. on the site
- The type and location of any underground utility lines
The local geology. Geology is vastly different from neighborhood to neighborhood — even from yard to yard. The geology surrounding the home or commercial site you’re interested in having a geothermal unit installed at will play a significant role in whether it is feasible. Factors we look at when doing a geology survey include:
- Soil depth
- Type of soil
- Any underground rock formations
Groundwater aka hydrology. What is the surface, or groundwater, availability in your yard or commercial space? The availability of water can be a contributing factor to the overall design of the geothermal system that may work at your site. The benefit of a geothermal unit’s open-loop technology is that it is a less expensive option than a closed-loop system. Closed-loop system offer benefits over the open-loop that include:
- Lower maintenance requirements
- Enhanced reliability
Our geothermal contractors are experienced in letting you know whether your property is better suited to an open-loop or a closed-loop system. They are both beneficial and will save money on heating and cooling costs, but closed-loop does have different advantages.
We can perform a site evaluation and let you know whether, and what type, of geothermal unit is best suited to both your needs and your site. If you live in Englewood, Florida or the surrounding areas and are interested in learning more about geothermal systems, contact us at Symbiont Service Corp.
