How Much Ice Is Needed to Cool the Average Pool?
How Can We Help You? Contact Us Today
Baby, it’s hot outside, which means that pool owners are turning to the water to keep cool. However, pools that are too warm in the summer can feel uncomfortably like bathwater. Speaking of, have you ever wondered how much ice it would take to cool your pool in the heat of summer? If so, you’re in luck—we did a study to determine just how much ice it would take to cool the average 50,000-gallon commercial pool by just five degrees.
It turns out that it would take 11,000 pounds of ice, or 1,100 of those 10-pound bags of ice you can get at the store. Dumping that much ice into your pool would add about 1,300 gallons of water, and it would only be a temporary fix to your pool-cooling needs.
