3 Ways To Save Money On Cooling This Summer
Whew, it’s hot and humid! Welcome to Englewood, Florida, right? If you’re like many of the customers that the geothermal professionals from Symbiont Service work with you may be spending some time examining your household or commercial business expenses. Are you finding that you’re spending more to cool your home or office this summer than you did last summer? If so, it’s time to give one of our technicians a call and have us come out and inspect your HVAC unit. We can help you with 3 ways to save money on cooling this summer — some may be easily implemented. However, there are times that no matter how much money you put into an air conditioning unit you may just need to throw in the towel and replace it.
Never fear though, we will work with you to help ensure you are getting the best value for your money and we can also help calculate the return on investment in a new HVAC or geothermal heating and cooling system.
You don’t want to sacrifice comfort for savings and that can be an unhealthy thing to do in the heat and humidity of a Florida summer.
3 Ways To Save Money On Cooling This Summer
Your best bet is to ensure your current HVAC unit is working as efficiently as possible. Call and schedule an inspection to ensure it is as energy efficient as it can be.
Here are other ways to save money and still be comfortable this summer.
- Programmable and smart thermostats help with the costs of heating and cooling. The way a programmable or smart thermostat can save money is that you set the times you want the house or office cooled or heated, program the unit and you don’t have to worry about whether you’re cooling an empty house or whether you will walk into a home or office that is uncomfortably warm. Smart thermostats can also send alerts to your phone when it turns on and off and how much you’re saving on your electricity bill.
- Nothing can replace regular annual — or twice annual (the beginning and end of each season) maintenance inspections. If you don’t remember the last time the HVAC unit was inspected or cleaned, it’s time to give Symbiont Service a call. Dirt and dust on the coils or clogging the filters not only mean you’re breathing dirty air, but it causes the unit to work harder and that will cost you more money.
- Go greener with geothermal systems. When you install a geothermal unit you’re reducing your carbon footprint and are also giving your home or commercial building access to consistent temperatures for heating and cooling. Other ways to go green and save money include: upgrade windows with insulated glazing, make sure your home or office is not leaking cool air, insulate the attic, use weather stripping on doors and windows to keep cooled air in and hot air out.
Sometimes small changes will add up over time and will positively impact your energy usage and utility bills.
