How Much Can You Save With Geothermal?
We get asked all the time, how much can you save with geothermal. It’s a great question, but it isn’t one that is straightforward, you will save XYZ dollars. There is a myriad of factors the geothermal energy professionals from Symbiont Service will explain when they pay a site visit to your home or office building in Englewood, Florida.
Geothermal is a great way to lower your carbon footprint and heat and cool your home or office in an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient way. Geothermal helps regulate the heating and cooling in your office or home without having to deal with natural gas, oil or propane.
Is it worth it to make the switch to a geothermal system? It is a personal decision, but we know that our customers see a return on their investment and are very happy with their decision to make the switch.
How Much Can You Save With Geothermal?
You may feel intimidated about geothermal in general and about the way it works. The up front cost of the system may also give you pause. But when you factor in the return on your investment and we can help you determine the payback time of your system, you will likely be pleasantly surprised at how wallet-friendly it is!
Don’t let price be the only thing that stops you from exploring this option. There is currently a 26% federal tax credit on geothermal heat pumps and that might help the project be more in reach. The significant savings you will realize up front, will be enticing — we know!
What could it cost to have a geothermal system installed?
There are many factors but it could be anywhere between $50,000-$100,000. The price range is determined on the:
- Size of the facility or home you’re heating and cooling
- The climate and soil where you’re having the system installed. Soil that is difficult to dig through will add to the cost of the project
- The heat pump itself — this is not one of the most costly parts of your geothermal installation project.
You may be able to seek financing for the geothermal system through your bank of choice and that offers a more flexible way to begin the project and perhaps afford the payback until you see your return on investment by the lowering of your utility bills. Ask us for information and insight into the financing of your system.
Imagine this, though: The cost to run a geothermal system can be up to 50% less than it costs you to heat or cool your home or office with electricity. Pull out your most recent bills — or all the bills for a twelve-month period and take the average and cut that in half. Or be conservative and cut 35% off the total average. What do those savings add up to? Would that allow you to justify the cost of a system? We bet it will!
Your heat pump will last about two decades with proper maintenance.
On the energy.gov site, it shows many home or commercial business owners see a payback on their systems within five to ten years.
