Project: GeoThermal Pool Heating and Cooling
Tamiami Park Upgrades to the Next Generation of Symbiont Service GeoThermal Pool Heating & Cooling
Twenty-three years ago, Miami-Dade Parks & Recreation made a forward-thinking decision at Tamiami Park: replacing two 1,000,000 BTU per hour input Teledyne-Laars natural gas heaters with six Symbiont™ PHH-165-RV reverse-cycle GeoThermal pool heating and cooling units.
That upgrade transformed the 50-meter competition pool, maintaining a steady 82–84°F year-round, reducing environmental impact, and lowering operating costs by approximately $20,000 annually.
In 2012, the park continued that momentum with an upgrade to four Symbiont™ PH215 units, streamlining the system while further increasing efficiency.
Now, after more than two decades of reliable GeoThermal performance, Tamiami Park is ready for the next chapter.
A New Generation of GeoThermal Technology
Symbiont Service Corp is proud to begin replacing the PH215 units with the newest evolution in GeoThermal technology: the Symbiont PH300 GeoThermal pool heating and cooling system.
This double-titanium unit is the largest BTU producer in the Symbiont lineup and has become the top choice for cities, municipalities, YMCAs, universities, competition pools, and water parks across the state of Florida. Its efficiency, durability, and output make it an ideal fit for a high-demand facility like Tamiami Park.
Fewer Units, Lower Costs, Greater Efficiency
One of the biggest benefits of this upgrade is the ability to reduce the number of units onsite. Thanks to the PH300’s advanced capacity, the previous system of four units is being replaced with just three. This will help:
- Decrease operational cost
- Reduce maintenance and service demands
- Lower replacement costs
Fewer units delivering more power: that’s GeoThermal efficiency at its best!
Wi-Fi Control & Remote Monitoring
The new installation also includes cutting-edge Wi-Fi technology. Once complete, staff will be able to access the entire system from anywhere in the world, allowing them to:
- Control heating, cooling, and auto modes
- Adjust settings
- Monitor performance
And the biggest advantage? Symbiont’s remote monitoring system.
Every Symbiont Service installation in Florida with Wi-Fi is connected to our alert network. If the system detects a problem with the units, our service department is notified automatically, allowing us to respond promptly.
This proactive approach helps reduce service calls and ensures that temperature consistency is maintained with minimal disruption.
Anticipating Another Two Decades of GeoThermal Performance
Tamiami Park continues to demonstrate how well-designed GeoThermal systems can deliver long-term performance while adapting to new technology. With the newest generation of Symbiont Service GeoThermal pool heating and cooling, Miami-Dade Parks & Recreation is investing in greater longevity, improved efficiency, and smarter system control.
We’re excited to kick off this upgrade and look forward to sharing photos of the finished installation.
Thank you to Miami-Dade Parks & Recreation for over 23 years of partnership with Symbiont Service! Here’s to the next chapter of efficient, dependable GeoThermal comfort at Tamiami Park.
