Nestled in Estero, Florida, Stoneybrook is a premier gated community featuring 1,119 luxury homes surrounding a championship golf course. The community prides itself on providing exceptional amenities, including a beautiful pool and spa. Ensuring residents enjoy comfortable swimming temperatures year-round is a top priority, and Stoneybrook wisely chose the budget-savvy, energy-efficient solution of GeoThermal for pool heating and cooling.

However, the community faced a frustrating challenge. The original GeoThermal system, installed by a different company, consistently failed to deliver the expected performance. Seeking a definitive solution for their residents, Stoneybrook reached out to Symbiont Service in 2020.

The Symbiont Solution: Addressing the Root Cause

Upon conducting our initial survey, the issue became immediately clear: the system was severely undersized. This critical flaw prevented the equipment from maintaining Stoneybrook’s desired temperatures.

With GeoThermal systems, proper installation and tuning are integral to successful system operation. However, when incorrectly sized, a GeoThermal system will not deliver top performance – regardless of the installation quality. In our 40 years installing GeoThermal pool heating systems, we’ve observed improper sizing to be a common denominator when evaluating systems installed by other companies.

In Stoneybrook’s case, our professional recommendation was to upgrade the entire setup to our SYMBIONT GeoThermal units. To accommodate the community’s budget constraints, we developed a flexible, multi-phase plan: we opted to swap out the existing units in a piecemeal fashion, replacing one or two per year until the entire system was renewed.

Commitment to Consistent Performance

By 2025, after successfully replacing three of the original units, Stoneybrook decided to accelerate the project and replace the remaining units all at once.

As of June, installation was fully complete! The results are impressive: during a visit to the property in December, we observed that the pool is now maintaining a toasty 90°F, with the spa consistently at 104°F. These are temperatures Stoneybrook could only have dreamed about reaching with their former system. For the SYMBIONT GeoThermal system, delivering this level of performance is effortless.
