The Jim & Heather Gills branch of the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg, Florida, located at 3200 1st Avenue South, features an indoor swimming pool with a water mushroom and slide, and a whirlpool spa.
The 136,000-gallon pool is heated to 85°F year-round by two (2) SymbiontTM Model PHH215 GeoThermal Heat Pumps extracting heat from a 270’ deep aquifer well installed on the property for this purpose. The 1,600-gallon spa is heated to a constant 104°F by one (1) SymbiontTM Model PHH075 GeoThermal Heat Pump, using pool water for its heat source.
Symbiont Service Corp engineering department projects operational savings in excess of $15,000.00 annually over conventional gas heaters with the 20-year serviceable life expectancy of the Symbiont™ system.
