Variable Speed Pool Pumps
Save Up to 90% in Energy Costs vs. a Single-Speed Pool Pump*
Your pool pump is the heart of your pool circulation system. Variable speed pumps not only last longer and offer quieter operation and enhanced performance vs. traditional single-speed pumps, but they can save you up to 90% in energy costs. Due to these energy savings, a variable speed pump can pay for itself within 2-4 years. So, you can either pay the electric company more for using an inefficient single-speed pump, or invest in a variable speed pump and reap the savings and other benefits. It’s no wonder that variable speed pumps are so popular with our customers!

Here’s Why You Should Choose a Variable Speed Pool Pump:
- Pump will pay for itself within 2 to 4 years.
- Very quiet operation at less than 55 dB.
- Sealed motor (This protects the motor from the elements.)
- Comes in three sizes: 1.5 Hp, 3 Hp, and 5 Hp to meet any circulation requirement.
- Speed can easily be ramped up when using a spa or running a pool cleaning system.
- Can be controlled by automation.
- Longer serviceable life than single-speed pumps.
- Will shut off if it loses prime.
- Pump will automatically increase speed to maintain set flow.
- Pump will shut off if it detects high or low voltage.
Current Energy Code (July, 2021)
As of July, 2021 the new energy code came into effect. The code states that when replacing a pool pump over 1 Hp, you must replace it with a variable speed or two-speed pump. But even if this new energy code were not instituted, it would still make sense to replace your existing pump with a variable speed pump for the reasons listed on this page.
*Savings based on variable speed pump compared to a single-speed pump running 12 hours per day at an average of1$0.16 per kWh in a 20,000 gallon pool. Actual savings may vary based on local utility rates, pool size, pump run time, pump horsepower, pump rpm, plumbing size and length, pump model, service factor and other hydraulic factors.
