Is The Pool Heater Ready For Winter?
Winter feels different when you live in Englewood, Florida than it does in many areas of the country. In Florida, though, it does get cool enough that the pool water may not be comfortable for year-round use. Is the pool heater ready for winter is a question our Geothermal swimming pool heating technicians answer all the time.
Geothermal swimming pool water heating is a way to heat the water that is:
- Environmentally-friendly
- Is clean energy
- Is a sustainable alternative heat source
- Has a viable ROI (return on investment
The geothermal heating and cooling experts at Symbiont Service have decades of experience in working with commercial and personal swimming pool heating units. When you have a geothermal heating and cooling unit installed in the swimming pool it enables it to be used year round. Year-round pool use is important to commercial facilities such as hotels, motels and resorts; guests come to Florida for a getaway and they usually want to swim!
The benefits of using geothermal heating for the swimming pool water is that the temperature of the groundwater is consistent and is an alternative heat source that is sustainable and environmentally friendly. No CO2 gases are emitted and you also reduce your carbon footprint.
Is The Pool Heater Ready For Winter?
If you’re looking for a quick checklist on why geothermal is best for your pool water heating choice, we have some.
- When you’re using geothermal to heat the pool water, it will cost less than using gas or electric. The reduction in what is spent on energy bills can be as high as 90% — you will see a return on your investment in a short time.
- A geothermal heater will last for up to two decades with regular care and maintenance. A gas-fired heater has a life span of up to ten years.
- When a geothermal water-sourced heat pump, latent heat is extracted from below ground, the water is pulled through a compressor that transfers the heat from the ground water into the pool water which is then transferred back to the pool. The well water (underground water) and the water you swim in don’t mix.
- The geothermal experts dig a well for the geothermal units that range from two inches to one-foot in diameter. The size will vary based on the volume of water you’re looking to heat.
- The water that is removed from the geothermal aquifer, is pumped back into the aquifer (by way of a separate return well once the heat is been extracted). This means the aquifer levels remain healthy.
- You can heat the water in a swimming pool and a hot tub or spa with the same geothermal unit.
- A geothermal unit will not take up any more space than a traditional gas heater. A geothermal heater can be installed outdoors or indoors. If more than one heating unit is required, as is the case in commercial pool settings, the units can be stacked on top of one another.
