7 Ways To Prepare For The 2021 Hurricane Season
Here are a few items you need to shop for today.
- Mediations
- Bottled water — enough for each person (and pet) for three days apiece. A water purification kit, too.
- Cell phone chargers
- Toiletries
- Clothing
- Food that doesn’t require refrigeration or a stove to prepare. Get a manual can opener
- Rain gear and rain clothing
- Fill the bathtub with water and have a bucket in case you need to manually flush the toilet
- Fill the gas grill in the back yard
- Get a first aid kit
- Plan for what you will need to keep your pets safe — leashes, medications, food, toys, medical records
- Plan for where you will stay if you have to evacuate and make sure your pets will be welcome
- Batteries
- Important documents like car and homeowner’s insurance, birth certificates, medical records, etc make copies and put them in waterproof containers to take with you.
- The items you will need to board up your home to protect it from the wrath of the storm
